Rescue teams work the crash site of a Ukrainian airliner on Jan. 8. The Ukraine International Airlines flight went down near Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran, Iran, shortly after takeoff. Search-and-rescue teams were combing through the wreckage of the Boeing 737-800 flight, bound for Kyiv. All 176 people on board were killed.

Flights to Tehran were canceled on Jan. 9 and Jan. 10 after Canada and others said an Iranian missile brought down a Ukrainian airliner, probably by mistake. Tehran denied a missile took down the plane.
